Closer to Home

Its a rainy Saturday, and I'm secretly blogging in the comfort of a room and air condition. My dog is scared of thunder, he's shivering... As you all realized, or those who have read, I'm from Singapore, and I've been geared towards the other side of the world when I'm writing. My interests reigns in places far far away, so I tend to see what's on the other side...

I have no idea why I'm writing this post, and what exactly this post is going to be about and titled, but I'll go on. I guess I've decided to write more local stuff since I'm from the great Singapore! Basically, Singapore is a REALLY small Island with MANY people. Since 2009, we've had 4,987,600 people living on a 710.2km
of land, which really isn't that big. So for those who don't know, Singapore is a country. Not a part of China! According to a friend source, when her sister met the Jonas Brothers, they thought Singapore was a part of China. I was really disappointed to hear that.

The arts scene in Singapore became slightly more well known, and its still growing over the years. However, I guess Asians are never seen to reach great heights internationally unless by some remarkable bar-breaking standards (Olympic records etc.), maybe even acting, but Asian's aren't really starred in big screen stuff much unless they are: Tremendously gorgeous/ handsome which usually results in Asians of mix descents, Lived in countries of opportunities. However, I still wait for the day when the Universe can be really diverse and accepting. Till then, I'll still be living as a normal girl who sits upon the footstools of all the world has, and watch.

So just to get the ball rolling, these are a couple things that Singapore is well known for, and some of Singapore's local/International favourites those who don't know will, well... Know!

To the Fashion scene, the first person I think off that I feel has made a name for Singapore in the area, is Ashley Isham, who is a born-and-raised in Singapore designer. His designs have been seen on celebrities ranging from Kylie Minogue and Erin O'Connor, to the up-to-date Lady Gaga and Pixie Lott.

I feel he has done his country, but most importantly, HIMSELF proud. It is inspiring to know so much can come out from someone with such great passion in a country I belong to.

In the music scene, we have Corrinne May! A internationally known singer-songwriter who is now based in Los Angeles. She is most well-known for her album Beautiful Seed.

In the blogging scene, I would like to nominate Wendy Cheng, also known as XiaXue. A well known blogger for her controversial posts and strong opinions, along with her fierce character that is both endearing and dominating. A true blogger who isn't afraid to say what she wants and let it out for the rest of the world to ponder.

Throughout the time it has regain its independence, up till today, Singapore has been evolving, and I would like to take my hat off to the film arts scene for coming up with the most wonderful, straight to point, life-like productions. Especially with the latest 23rd Singapore International Film Festival, featuring local and regional film productions.

Its not national day till 9th August 2010, but I still think I should give more credit to my country. I love Singapore, and I fully support it as the Youth Olympics 2010 is going to take place here soon from 14-16 August 2010.

With Our 2 Mascots....

I never fully understood the need for mascots, much more the names....

To round it all off, I am going to be updating about latest deals and spills on fashion and beauty galore, local and international, right down to the gritty information if I can. So up next, I would like to post the latest Great Singapore Sales information for all you out there, as it is in the summer, and a holiday is no doubt in question, get down to Singapore and see what appeals and maybe, learn a little more about the Youth Olympics 2010!

A Day Out, Night IN, and Followers!

It was a bizarrely cool morning today, little did I know what the weather had in store for me. Bullets of rain. After some lessons and a test, I went home to change, and immediately left for the shopping mall to meet up with a couple friends, hang out, and return to one of their houses for a movie marathon. More like a micro-mini movie marathon. I watched 1 and a half movies. Man of the House and Night at the Museum.

If you like comedy, romance, thriller and family all rolled into one? Watch those two. Its really a good watch, especially Man of the House.

I thoroughly enjoy going out, walking a bit, just hanging out. Even if it were by myself. Where I come from, Teen Vogue, isn't exactly everywhere. I go to nearly every public magazine booth, kiosks, and even drugstores. None. Zilch. Some kiosk and booth owners, never HEARD of it. I was suffering. I was craving for a new copy so badly. Now you see, I'm not the 'regular' reader. I read as I flow, as I feel, as I have the urge. I had the urge for some time already.

It was such a beautiful day, despite the rain, and so, I go on my mission of observation, critique, and self thoughts. Haven't you sit on a train, only to realize time literally FLEW because you were making comments to yourself about the person sitting next, opposite or near you for that matter? Well, I'm the kind of person that does that, and believe me, it IS quite therapeutic. It is one of the many MANY reasons I enjoy going out alone, or be on my own. Its also quite healthy for a person in general to be isolated from a familiar social circle.

The latest trends on the streets today, are Doc Martens, or Doc Martens look-a-likes, or boot-like skater/army shoes. They are often, in my opinion unglamorously paired with super short shorts like so...

Disclaimer: I have nothing against this girl of her dressing,
Just that I see people dressing like this a lot. (I like her hair)

Yep, there were certainly shorter shorts. To be honest. I don't quite entirely love how the pieces are being brought together. In a way, they should balance out, but they just stick out. Its not the color, I LOVE COLORS. Its just something thats not quite right about the outfit. Its kind of clashy. Like how the shoes are high but not too high clashes with the shorts because the shoes are so heavy, and the outfit's almost too simple. Its like you're surrounding the attention on your shoes, when your outfit should go hand in hand, and not stick out so abruptly in one place, or maybe that's the look some people are going for, but I don't quite get/see it.

I do want my own Doc Martens. I do admire them, but just not how their paired. Doc Martens are gonna take the trend wind by a swift whoosh! So catch them in time if you want the IN, or be like me, and get them whenever, cause you can never go out of your own style. Its YOURS!

Here are a couple Doc Martens I love you may consider getting yourself!

I thought these were really beautiful colors that swirl together, but I didn't really love the heels. I thought it could've been a wedge or something, but not a real visible heel. The colors are however, extremely matchable with nearly any dark shades for clothes. Best for winters and autumns.

I love the floral yet vintage feel to this one, certainly something I would consider in my choices of Doc Martens. It reminds me of wallpaper patterns, which worries me, cause once they're matched wrongly, it becomes sort of an eyesore, but the dullness of the color is a bonus that softens the patterns. Dull = GOOD in this case.

Do not tell me you don't love this!!! Everything about it say DIVA. From the gold to the lace, to the.. Okay it's just the GOLD. I mean, who doesn't lovelove GOLD? GOLDIVA! Hah!
This simply reminds me of ice and hockey skates, so I simply HAD to put it here. I totally thing Doc Martens should make hockey skates. It would be soooo IN! or not, but I still think its cool!

Aside from the Invasion of the Martens, I've been really into big fluffy things you wrap around your body. Yep, you've guessed it! A BATHROBE, or ROBE, or simply. SLEEPWEAR in general.
I've been wearing a fluffy white and pink Hello Kitty bathrobe because I'm cold, and it simply is oh so comfortable! So these are my picks, and also somewhat what I want,

Let's start with the Night Wears I simply love.

I've not chosen any nightgowns because right now, I'm focusing on everything Juicy Couture. I know many people love those kinds of translucent and airy and almost transparent nightgowns or negligee. I like them too, but I'm 15 years old, and I really like airy comfortable clothes that don't freeze me to death in an air-conditioned room. I will definitely buy the nightdress with the big word JUICY. It's just so comfortable looking, I like it. If I have spare cash, maybe I'll buy the middle pajamas. Its so cute and patterned with eyelashes. The last one is the Dot-Charm pants. Its definitely a must have for a sleepover. Its just so bright It'd be utterly beautiful in pictures.

Moving on to the robes, the highlight of this Sleepwear.

Ralph Lauren Short Terry Robe. I WANT WANT WANT!

Monogrammed

Original Pony

I personally can't pick which I like more. Pink or White, Monogrammed or Pony-fied. Which would YOU like???

Juicy Couture's picks... (These are ALL the Robes I found on JCouture, so..)

So honestly, I love the first one, pale pink. They all look simply comfortable don't they??? I think I would settle with Ralph and tell him I'm gonna buy him. The robe I mean. Its so funny that so little brands have any wide range of bathrobes at all. They should cater to all needs. Don't you think?

----------------------------------FOLLOWERS!!--------------------------------------

Yes! I have 2 Followers!!! I'm so happy at least some people are reading my blog. (: Hopefully. I don't think I could have done it without Google, and Teen Vogue, and a lot of inspiration from anyone and everyone and anything. I now know how Youtube Gurus feel when they have subscribers. No matter how little, how few, it just feels nice to know someone took the liberty to click the follow button, showing that they do want to read next time, whether they do or not, is a totally different thing, its just really nice and comforting. Like how facebook is an ego booster to narcissists, having followers is like my own little powerhouse of inspiration. Something I look forward to nearly always when I post. Its like I've reached out to someone I don't even know, and it just feels nice.

Having your first follower is a massive thing if you've just started out your blog. Some people post for years, but nobody follows, and that, in my opinion, is quite sad. Every writer has a reason for starting out a blog. They are not simply BLOGGERS, they are writers. Every inch of their finger tips is filled with a writer's vibe to type, write and reach out.

I have let this blog remain anonymous because I want to reach out and connect with more than just people I know. I want people with the same deep interests, and the same feelings about situations, or different, to see me. To see my point. A blog is when you write your inner thoughts, feelings, maybe daily activities, but thats entirely up to a person. I just write what I feel of, about, towards, for, from at that moment.

The best thing about blogging next to the 'reaching out' part, is that there is simply no rules at all. Who wouldn't want a blog, if that's how simple it can be?? I know that's reason number 2 for starting a blog.

So here are my 10 reason of why I blog.
1. To reach out to people of different country and opinions
2. There is no rules or must-do books. (As long as under your country's law there is an exception of defamation etc.)
3. Now that I have followers (This goes under number 1 too!), to motivate my followers in one way or another.
4. To discuss my random views with random people who randomly chance upon this little self expression of a blog.
5. To prove to not only others, but myself, that there's more to me than me.
6. To comment, critique and write.
7. To practice my writing skills, and perhaps go somewhere far.
8. Cultivate my interest in journalism and editorial, though I don't know how editorial can come under this.
9. To make something out of nothing.
10. blogging with no personal family-friend support.

Through it all, I think I've grown a little each time I blog, like putting a piece of me out there for the world to see, and I learn from others too.

I want to thank peaceloveandconverse170 whether you know me or not, and Dani for being my first 2 followers respectively, but because of you two, regardless, I've been spurred to work harder, and write my thoughts better. If thats even possible. Anywho, smiley for yous! (:
