Closer to Home

Its a rainy Saturday, and I'm secretly blogging in the comfort of a room and air condition. My dog is scared of thunder, he's shivering... As you all realized, or those who have read, I'm from Singapore, and I've been geared towards the other side of the world when I'm writing. My interests reigns in places far far away, so I tend to see what's on the other side...

I have no idea why I'm writing this post, and what exactly this post is going to be about and titled, but I'll go on. I guess I've decided to write more local stuff since I'm from the great Singapore! Basically, Singapore is a REALLY small Island with MANY people. Since 2009, we've had 4,987,600 people living on a 710.2km
of land, which really isn't that big. So for those who don't know, Singapore is a country. Not a part of China! According to a friend source, when her sister met the Jonas Brothers, they thought Singapore was a part of China. I was really disappointed to hear that.

The arts scene in Singapore became slightly more well known, and its still growing over the years. However, I guess Asians are never seen to reach great heights internationally unless by some remarkable bar-breaking standards (Olympic records etc.), maybe even acting, but Asian's aren't really starred in big screen stuff much unless they are: Tremendously gorgeous/ handsome which usually results in Asians of mix descents, Lived in countries of opportunities. However, I still wait for the day when the Universe can be really diverse and accepting. Till then, I'll still be living as a normal girl who sits upon the footstools of all the world has, and watch.

So just to get the ball rolling, these are a couple things that Singapore is well known for, and some of Singapore's local/International favourites those who don't know will, well... Know!

To the Fashion scene, the first person I think off that I feel has made a name for Singapore in the area, is Ashley Isham, who is a born-and-raised in Singapore designer. His designs have been seen on celebrities ranging from Kylie Minogue and Erin O'Connor, to the up-to-date Lady Gaga and Pixie Lott.

I feel he has done his country, but most importantly, HIMSELF proud. It is inspiring to know so much can come out from someone with such great passion in a country I belong to.

In the music scene, we have Corrinne May! A internationally known singer-songwriter who is now based in Los Angeles. She is most well-known for her album Beautiful Seed.

In the blogging scene, I would like to nominate Wendy Cheng, also known as XiaXue. A well known blogger for her controversial posts and strong opinions, along with her fierce character that is both endearing and dominating. A true blogger who isn't afraid to say what she wants and let it out for the rest of the world to ponder.

Throughout the time it has regain its independence, up till today, Singapore has been evolving, and I would like to take my hat off to the film arts scene for coming up with the most wonderful, straight to point, life-like productions. Especially with the latest 23rd Singapore International Film Festival, featuring local and regional film productions.

Its not national day till 9th August 2010, but I still think I should give more credit to my country. I love Singapore, and I fully support it as the Youth Olympics 2010 is going to take place here soon from 14-16 August 2010.

With Our 2 Mascots....

I never fully understood the need for mascots, much more the names....

To round it all off, I am going to be updating about latest deals and spills on fashion and beauty galore, local and international, right down to the gritty information if I can. So up next, I would like to post the latest Great Singapore Sales information for all you out there, as it is in the summer, and a holiday is no doubt in question, get down to Singapore and see what appeals and maybe, learn a little more about the Youth Olympics 2010!

Tres Tres Tiffany's

I was just done with Breakfast at Tiffany's, okay, maybe half done? But I'd get to the end one way or another. Given my insistence on how 'important' fashion is, girls who are as 'junkie' as me, would probably think 'WHAT? YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S AND YOU CALL YOURSELF A FASHION JUNKIE?'

My reply to that would be.. "Why stereotype the beginning, the culture of fashion with that show?" Fashion could start from the very day cavemen wore clothes. (Though, I don't really believe in the whole cavemen deal.) I really did not get the show as well, I know the basic story line, but I don't understand the plot the whole movie is revolving around. I guess, it is a joy to watch for some because of the constant socialite aura Audrey Hepburn gives off, but I totally dig Holly Golightly's fashion sense too. That's where the Little Black Dress, I believe, originated from, NOT fashion.

Holly Golightly's carefree style is simply the kind of aura females of today would like to give off with whatever they wear. The easiness she throws on a dress, and the pure focus in her eyes is simply beautiful. How can I deny that? Despite her messy and disapproving smoking, drinking and flirty habits, she is still a walking muse. Therefore, I conclude that Miss Golightly, is officially my inspiration for the aura I want to give off.

So the other day, I was at Vivo City, a fine shopping center in Singapore, and I was eating at No Signboard Restaurant, a well known seafood restaurant for my mom's birthday, apparently, she prefers eating at the one in Geylang, personally a place I do not entirely enjoy, or been to often. Click here for more info on Geylang, Singapore. The food there was simply EH-mazing. I love pepper crab a lot, so I guess that's why. It was really a filling dinner.
The plain dress and the funky restaurant carpets.

When it came to the second last dish before the dessert, there were fireworks quite promptly in view. They were from Sentosa, probably some celebration for the Resorts World Sentosa, regardless, it was beautiful, so I ran out to get a look.

To my dismay, the fireworks stopped the moment I got near enough to have a full view of Sentosa. I began snapping pictures with the background as scenery, but none of them were never nice/good/anonymous enough to be considered THE picture. THE first picture I would post on this BUHlog. This was IT.
Looking out onto the world as I climb the stairs of life.
Lit to the top.
It was the most beautiful yet undefined shot taken with my LG Prada (I am not boasting in anyway, this phone is not worth the price, even worse, I don't OWN a camera!) I like taking photos, but I've never been quite good at a nice ME angle, or what tweens and teens today call 'CAMWHORE', but I would get better.

Maybe you haven't noticed why I picked this picture. It was a casual dinner actually, my sister wore knee length shorts! Everyone was informal xcept me. My purpose? To take a picture of my one in a million perfectly loved outfit. Yes, yes, it's nothing much. Just a plain dress, stockings and black platforms.

It ISN'T much, but it is the one of the very few clothes selections I love when put together, and the angle of the feet is the bonus! I didn't even know I was doing that!

After that overlooking of  'Ze world beforez meez', I went to MNG. YEP. The made for average females retail outlet (Not that average females are bad, I just meant that It would not be those high end stuff most people would be on the edge of their seats to read). I saw this beautiful plaid nearly-knee length dress. It was the most outrageously wanted dress on my list of impulse love.

I didn't buy it of course. My dad promised me a spree sometime next month, and I'm saving for my dream wallet, so as impulsive as I tend to get, I refrain as best as I cant. It is this beautiful long sleeve boyfriend-tee-like dress. It goes well with black stockings (Have you realized my obsession with stockings?).

So yep, basically, come to Vivo City whether you're a foreigner or not. It has so much fun stuff, but do get a good look at the map. After going there nearly more than 50 times, I still get lost. Like Ion, but that's a whole other story.

Yours.

Dear No one,

I am quite sad. It is evident that no one quite gets the humor I have. Nobody really knows my stuff. Nobody GETS ME! It's so miserable seeing how so many popular people with a good life, can have good friends. I don't. Sometimes, it feels like everyone's left me, and when I'm gone, they'll just carry on. They won't mourn. They'll just gasp and wish my family members how sorry they are or something. This really sucks.

I want to be home schooled in Singapore.
I want to have friends who GET me.
I want to have good friends who would STAY friends for like life!
I want the impossible.

Sighing,
Me

Virgin of Fashion

FASHION.
I have never been so interested in anything as much as you.
But you are more than clothes.
More than trends.
You are a mode of life.
You are music.
You are style.
You are endless.

My one true drug.

Hey there, whoever is reading this. I am C. There was this sudden explosion of my love for fashion. The desire is unbelievably overwhelming. Where I come from, Fashion in the form of art, is not much appreciated. Fashion becomes a mere trend. What everyone wears. But no, Fashion is in its own self, a self indulgent to whoever. Hanging off racks, displayed on long lanky mannequins that could never exist so beautifully as a human without appearing anorexic, are beautiful art pieces in its own right.

Fashion to me, however is not all and just that.

It is so much more.

I don't know when it suddenly occurred to me on such a fine sunny, yet emotionally gloomy day that I wanted to devote this non-suppressible crave on a public journal. But I guess everyone is entitled to their own incomprehensible explanations to self, and I, am part of everyone.

Fashion is no longer just clothes you see as you flip through glossy, ad-filled, smelly, cold pages in a teen or woman magazine.

Fashion can be the music you hear, the style, the genre.
Fashion can be the movies you see, the actors, the plots.
Fashion can be the products you feel, the aftermath, the soothe.
Fashion can be the food you taste, the high-end, or junk.
Fashion can be the perfumes you smell, the notes, the stenches.
Fashion is everything, and anything.
Fashion a prevailing style.

I think, fashion can be anything, don't you?

I have a personal blog, but that of which nearly everyone I know, knows. So I have taken a break from it(just a small percentage of the months I used to take a break) I have devoted my time to this Online declaration. I would like to push on and make a commitment as best as I can to post weekly, as much as I can. Whether you appreciate fashion or not, know that my version of fashion is not 'ALL ABOUT CLOTHES'. Although, I am indeed a true Fashion for Style Junkie. I however have a deep love for music too. Mostly Rhythm & Blues, Jazz, Indie, the occasional metal. As water runs deep, so does my love for the many genres of music in its own way.

I have just started out on a long journey to letting many know of my loves. Egomaniac much? Maybe. But as I said, where I come from, its hard to find (m)any who loves what you love, understands what you hear, do or wear. It sometimes feel like you know if you were born somewhere else (As in country) it would be different. But I love my country Singapore. I just wish fashion was a more versatile statement than it is now, that this appreciated, would be acknowledged as a form of art the government is trying to cultivate, but sadly, no. It isn't.

I have decided to find an outlet, and opening for people who have the same interests who might stumble across this lonesome blog of mine, follow it, comment, and share thoughts. Now isn't that a dream? Oh Wells. Who said I can't dream those dreams?

I am a Virgin of Fashion. I have not fully cultivated the love. Fully understood it, but I hope I would grow slowly in the online and offline community. A 15 year old school girl who decides to take a small step into an endless abyss of inspiration, information, and invitations. Whichever comes first.

Yours.
